Digital information and communication technologies offer great opportunities and together raise important ethical issues.
The speech will first present adverse behaviors that have found in the Internet a factor of magnification: for example, those related to cyber-criminality or child pornography. However, less visible aspects will also be underlined, although they are particularly relevant both in the constitution of the Self - the primacy of appearance, a personal "fluidity" allowed by the technological one, the selfie as the figure of an individual who is increasingly alone, narcissistic and incapable of managing his own time in the best possible way - and in the definition of the communities - from the emergence of increasingly weaker ties to the radicalization of positions within ideological "bubbles", to the control allowed by surveillance and monitoring systems such as to threaten the privacy of citizens.
If normative legislative interventions can contribute to face these challenges, a fundamental contribution can come from the research and training sectors, which help to have a greater awareness of the opportunities and challenges, and to face the latter in a more adequate and "drastic" way.
