How can you plan an operation on an "open" body?

Researchers at University of Basel have developed a technique that generates a three-dimensional image of the body part to be operated on in real time from computer tomography data. Using 3D glasses, surgeons can get a precise picture of the anatomical situation before the operation. However, the technology can not only be used in medicine. In a museum, for example, it would also be possible to explore the interior of a mummy in this way.
