Asthma is a common disease in Switzerland. Adults but also one of ten children are affected by the chronic disease of the air ways. When the diagnosis is made, the impact for patients is often unclear and they aren't sure how to behave in the right way.
At Digital Day, CSS Assurance presents an approach in the form of a "Digital Pill" to empower patients to cope more effectively with chronic illness in their day-to-day lives. Toghether with ETH Zurich and the University of St. Gallen and in cooperation with Lungenliga Schweiz and medical partners, the CSS Health Lab launched a pilot study with the digital AsthmaCoach Max. The contents of the app were developed by doctors of the Universitäts-Kinerspital Zurich and the Kantonsspital Winterthur as well as experts of Lungenliga Schweiz.
The digital pill is a smartphone app that is prescribed by doctors or experts of Lungenliga. The app accompanies children and their families during 15 days. During the time, children receive important knowledge about their illnes and learn how to handle the therapy. Thanks to daily interactions with the automated chatbot MAX, learning videos and the possibility to chat with their supervisors, children and their families are empowered in their health competences.
You can explore the app live at Digital Day at the booth of CSS Insurance in the themeworld Health.
